The Caliph Delivers Keynote Address on the Significance of Women in Society at Canada’s Largest Islamic Convention

The World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at, the Caliph, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad emphasizes the role of women in maintaining family values

Tens of thousands from around the world gathered for the second day of the 40th Jalsa Salana (Annual Convention) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada. In yesterday’s address the Caliph highlighted the necessity for Muslims to inculcate true Islamic values in daily life in order to maintain a harmonious society. His Holiness stressed the vital role women play in developing moral values in children and the practical steps women can take to help children become contributing members of society.

Whilst expounding these steps, the Caliph stated that mothers are the primary educators of children and as such, they should obtain higher education while still ensuring the proper upbringing of children. His Holiness emphasized that the holy founder of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), acknowledged the noble status that women hold because of their crucial responsibilities in society.
 

The Caliph also discussed the obligations that Muslim men have in maintaining the dignity of women, and the vital role men play in the moral development of children.

Yesterday’s proceedings also included speeches on topics such as the importance of Muslim leadership, the Islamic concept of martyrdom and Islam’s emphasis on service to humanity.

The convention concludes today with the keynote address delivered by the Caliph, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.
