Terror Attack on Ahmadi Mosque During Friday Prayers Leaves Several Wounded in Pakistan
Thousands of Muslims from Across GTA to Gather at Baitul Islam Mosque for Special Prayers
An armed assault on the Ahmadi Muslim mosque Bait-ul-Mahdi in Rabwah, Pakistan has left several community volunteers injured after gunmen opened fire following Friday prayers.
According to reports, the attackers attempted to storm the mosque while worshippers were still present. Swift and courageous action by Ahmadi security volunteers prevented a far greater tragedy. The volunteers engaged the armed assailants, stopping them from entering the mosque. One of the attackers was ultimately killed in an exchange of gunfire.
This heinous act is yet another chapter in the ongoing wave of violence and hatred directed against the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Pakistan — a community that continues to suffer in silence under state-sanctioned discrimination and societal persecution.
During his Friday sermon, the Caliph, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, condemned the attack, highlighting that despite repeated assurances from the Government, Ahmadi Muslims remain vulnerable and unprotected in Pakistan.
As the community prays for the swift recovery of those injured, it also renews its unwavering commitment to peace, tolerance and justice. Today, thousands from across the Greater Toronto Area will gather for Friday Prayer Service at the Baitul Islam Mosque, the National Headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim
Jama’at Canada, to pray for those in critical condition.
