Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at held a special event in Vaughan City Hall as part of
50 Year Anniversary Celebrations
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada, headquartered in Vaughan, Ontario, launched the first of many celebratory events to commemorate its 50 year anniversary in Canada. The event was hosted by Hon. Maurizio Bevilacqua, Mayor of Vaughan, Ontario, who spoke highly of the contributions of the Community. “The activities of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at demonstrate their deep affection, love and commitment to serve mankind,” said the Mayor.
Hon. Greg Sorbara, Chancellor of York University and Master of Ceremonies for the event, stated: “The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at has been one of the most powerful forces of good in Canada.” He went on to say, “It is a fact that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at is the fastest growing religious organization in Canada.”
Hon. Steven Del Duca, Ontario Minister of Transportation, also provided his sentiments at the program and remarked: “To the Ahmadi Muslims, I have to say, the level of involvement, participation, passion, and profound energy you bring to the broader Canadian community is a great inspiration.”
Mr. Lal Khan Malik, National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada, stated: “Our focus truly and sincerely is to serve mankind and the betterment of Canada.” He added, “The founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, laid great emphasis on service to mankind, as he said, ‘My purpose, my yearning, and my heartfelt desire is to serve humanity; this is my job, this is my faith, this is my habit and this is my way of life.’”
A special presentation to recognize the contributions of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at was also included, during which the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at presented a gift of $125,000 in charitable contributions to the Mackenzie Health Foundation.
